Samples, Examples and Free Exercises

Below are example journal pages from our nature correspondence course, as well as photos of what a Kamana Naturalist Desk looks like.

Through Kamana's four levels, students will have completed 250 resource trail journals, 52 weekly field inventories, 12 Field Exercise reflections, weather journals, and expanded background research of Resource Trail families and species of their area.

This is quite a portfolio for your future as naturalist. Kamana is highly focused and organized physical proof of your research and field time!

BUT, before you scroll down to see the journal samples, we would like to offer you a few FREE exercises and books taken straight out of Kamana!

Sample Kamana Assignments & Books

Read the expanded history and mission of Wilderness Awareness School and the Kamana Program in SONGLINE pdf (this is the first book given with Kamana Two)

TAKE THE OFFICIAL TOURIST TEST (AKA The Alien Test) pdf. The history of this test is explained in the Songline Book pdf

NOTE: This PDF is meant for you to print out and take on paper. The purpose of this test is for you to get an idea of the types of things you will know when you have completed the nature correspondence course. It is also to get an idea of where most people are at these days with their connection to the natural world. The purpose of this test is not to get a grade, nor will anyone grade this test, even when you are taking Kamana. There are no grades or other tests in Kamana.

To sample the Nature Awareness Trail, we've selected an exercise from Kamana Two called The Sense Meditation pdf. To sample the Resource Trail, we've chosen the Birds chapter from Kamana Two. See journal samples below as well as the List samples from Kamana Three and Four to get a better understanding of how the entire Resource Trail works in this nature correspondence course.
