How to Register

On-line registration We offer the convenience of secure on-line registration for most programs. Follow the links from the specific course description page to register on-line.

Anake Outdoor School Our Anake Outdoor School requires a specific application process in order to enroll. See the Anake Outdoor School page for application details.

Gift Certificates Wilderness Awareness School Gift Certificates are good towards any of our courses or products. They can be purchased for any amount (in $50 increments), and are good for two years from the date of purchase. To purchase a gift certificate for a family member or friend, please call our office: 425-788-1301.

Course registration status sometimes changes hourly during busy times (such as in the spring or early fall), so call our office if there is any doubt about course space: 425-788-1301.

Deposit, Payment, Cancellation and Refund Policies

Wilderness Awareness School Payment, Cancellation and Refund Policies for Non-Intensive Courses*
(*not valid for Residential Program, Wildlife Tracking Intensive, Instructor Training Apprenticeship, Youth School, Community School or Roots and Wings)

Wilderness Awareness School welcomes students who are motivated to learn wilderness and outdoor education skills, are healthy and are socially responsible. We will deny admission to anyone we believe to be unable to meet the safety demands of our courses. We will expel any student who exhibits behavior that is unsafe or disrupts from the educational mission of a course. If a student is expelled, there will be no refund.

Wilderness Awareness School cancellation/credit and transfer policies are based on our investment in staff, course planning, as well as food and equipment purchases before your course. We cannot recover our expenses if you cancel. Short-notice cancellations often prevent others from attending.

Deposit Policy Deposits are non-refundable. Deposit amounts are as follows:

$25 deposit for programs that are less than $100
$50 deposit for programs that are between $100 and $300
$100 deposit for programs that are between $300 and $500
$200 deposit for programs that are between $500 and 800
$300 deposit for programs that are greater than $800

Payment Policy Full payment for summer youth courses is required by June 1, and for other courses 30 days before start date. Registration after June 1 or within 30 days of the start date requires payment in full at registration time.

Cancellation Policies
If you cancel or leave a course for any reason:

  1. 15 or more days prior to the course starting date; you are entitled to a full refund, minus the deposit.
  2. Between 8 and 14 days prior to the course starting date, Wilderness Awareness School will retain 50 percent of the course tuition.
  3. Fewer than 8 days prior to the course starting date and once the course has begun, there will be no refunds.

Transfer Policy
If you transfer from one course to another:

  1. 15 or more days prior to the course starting date – no additional charges. Tuition is fully transferable.
  2. 14 days or less prior to the course starting date, regular cancellation and refund charges will apply.

Although we rarely need to do so, we reserve the right to cancel a course or change a course duration, tuition or location. Wilderness Awareness School is not responsible for costs associated in these cases. We recommend that you consider refundable airplane tickets for travel.

Scholarship Applicants
We must receive all information requested on your Scholarship Application before it will be reviewed. If you apply for and do not receive the scholarship requested, all payments will be refunded. For further information, see our scholarship page.

Confirmation Packet:

You will receive by email or mail a confirmation packet with letter, map, medical release form, and pertinent information prior to the start of your course.

Courses are subject to change or cancellation without prior notice.

Required Forms:

We require that you complete, sign, and mail in Medical and Release form prior to participation in all courses. Because of the ever-changing nature of medical and other requested information, we require that a new form be completed for each course you or your child attends. Some courses may require additional forms. See our Forms Page for required forms.
