At Wilderness Awareness School, we are so lucky to have a community that includes engaged and empowered parents of our youth students! We are excited to be harnessing the power of our parents through our Parent Council, which started in Winter 2024.
Our Parent Council wishes to nurture constructive relationships between families, program staff, and administrators in order to support students in having a positive experience in our youth programs. All members commit to pursuing the interests of every youth student at Wilderness Awareness School. The main duties of the Parent Council include:
- Identifying and recommending opportunities to create an inclusive and welcoming environment for all youth program students at WAS.
- Brainstorming solutions to challenges that impact the experience of youth students and their families at WAS.
- Assisting WAS youth program staff in engaging parents and community members. – Supporting WAS parents and families, both new and experienced.
- Working collaboratively to continue developing the Parent Council charter, responsibilities, and structure.
