Kristin Owens

Kristin Owens

Immersion Admissions Coordinator
Pronouns: She/Her

Originally from the midwest, Kristin grew up in the deciduous forests and rivers of traditional Miami/Kickapoo lands, currently known as Fishers, Indiana. Longing for travel and adventure, Kristin decided to join the United States Navy at the age of 21. She was on active duty for eight years and in the Navy Reserves for four years, before getting out to pursue her education and to travel more.

She and her husband, Keith, fell in love over their longing for adventure and love of craft beers, and decided to do The Immersion together, graduating in 2021. This was Kristin’s first taste of nature connection and it has had a profound impact on the way she lives her life today. She went on to complete the Adult Nature Instructor Training program in 2022 and completed the Youth Nature Instructor Training program in 2023. Kristin has truly fallen in love with tracking wildlife and is always eager to consume more knowledge of this beautiful art form. She completed the Wildlife Tracking Intensive in 2023 and has served as a volunteer on the Teen Wolf Tracking Expedition. She has achieved a Track and Sign Level II certification in both the Pacific Northwest bioregion and the United Kingdom.

Above all else, Kristin is happiest when she is wandering slowly and quietly through a wild place with all of her senses open to the natural world. Listening to birds sing, walking in an animal’s footsteps, taking cold plunges, and deep conversations are what makes her feel the most alive.
